The opportunity I had to see such inspiring performances isn't lost on me.
I am grateful beyond words.
On my way back to my warm lovely home via subway, I came upon several homeless men in the Rockefeller Center subway stop. The disparity was shocking to me. I had just spent the night in a grand theater with world class artists, and these men were bundled in sleeping bags just trying to survive.
I spotted a Dunkin Donuts and went to buy hot tea for them. The woman working there me gave me some donuts to give them too. As I handed out the teas and donuts, and connected with these men I had a surge of feeling that I cannot name.
When I got to the subway platform I burst into tears. Why is life so unfair? How can people suffer so much? And then I reframed, I had just been given a gift and as a result, my heart opened and I was inspired to give.
Art can and does heal, it opens our hearts, our compassion and humanity. Pay it forward my friends, every bit counts.
